RULES FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS
Guidelines
are a combination of Old Bedford Village’s Rules and those of the Event Staff.

A UPON ARRIVAL AT THE VILLAGE PLEASE PROCEED TO THE FISK HOUSE,
BUILDING #26 TO REGISTER AND TO PICK UP YOUR
ID CARD .
1. Vehicle License Plate Numbers required on participant’s
registration forms.
2. Participants must submit the signed waiver with registration as
required by Village.
3. Participants will be issued an “I.D.” Card to be carried on their person at all
times.
THIS ID CARD IS ALSO THE
MILITARY MEAL TICKET.
NO VEHICLES WILL BE
ALLOWED IN THE VILLAGE BEFORE 5:15pm FRIDAY.

VEHICLES MUST BE OUT OF THE VILLAGE BY 11:00PM FRIDAY EVENING.
NO VEHICLES WILL BE ALLOWED INTO THE VILLAGE SATURDAY
EVENING
VEHICLES WILL BE ALLOWED INTO THE VILLAGE AFTER 5:15PM SUNDAY
5. All Military participants will have their weapons inspected by
their company commander.
6. PARTICIPANTS INTERPRETING HOUSES MUST BE OPEN AT 9:00AM
SAT./SUN.
Participants will present
themselves in a Circa 1864 manner that is appropriate in public.
Positively no public discussions of modern
politics.
7. No consumption of
alcohol on the property.
8. NO SMOKING in any of the
Village Buildings or on front steps or porches.
9. 12:00 MIDNIGHT is “ALL
QUIET” in Camps and CURFEW in the Village.
10. Period Eyeglasses are required for participants who wear
corrective lenses.
11. No Mountain Man Chairs
or folding lodge chairs. Period Chairs such as antique plank, boot
jack, folding chairs, or wooden folding camp stools only.
12. No Stainless Steel
cups, boilers, or plates.
13. No Enamelware or any
kind.
14. No modern cooking
utensils, including pots and pans.
15. No modern dishes, cups,
or glassware. No plastic or galvanized tin wash pans or tubs.
16. No Railroad Lanterns or
other types of Kerosene Lamps.
17. Chamber sticks with
glass globes or tin and/or wooden candle lanterns only.
18. Know
the location of the Fire Extiguishers in the building you occupy.
19. PARTICIPANTS WILL STAY IN PERIOD CLOTHING, AFTER VILLAGE
HOURS.
20. Washing of dishes, pots and pans in the Village’s Public Restroom
is Strictly Prohibited.
21. Participants
will bag their own trash and take it to the designated dumpsters only.
22. NO SIDE ARMS TO BE
CARRIED BY CIVILIANS.
23. POSITIVELY NO LIVE ROUNDS OF ANY KIND ARE ALLOWED IN THE
VILLAGE.
NO LOADED “RIGHT TO CARRY”
FIREARMS ARE ALLOWED IN THE VILLAGE.
24. Children under 15 will be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all
times.

MILITARY
CAMP EQUIPAGE
1. “A” Tents for Enlisted men and N.C.O’s.
2. Wall Tents for Officers only.
3. Officers are required to
have Fire Extinguishers in their tents.
4. Camp chairs, beds, and
camp furnishings to be period correct
CAMPFIRE AND HEARTH RULES
1. Only one camp fire will be allowed in the military camp.
No fire pits are allowed
anywhere else in the Village.
2. Open Hearth cooking is only allowed in houses designated by the
Village.
3. Cook fires and hearth fires are not to be left unattended.
3. Cooks are responsible for clean up and returning unused firewood
CIVILIAN GUIDELINES
WOMEN’S DRESS AND ATTIRE
1. Women’s one-piece day dresses should be made from natural
fibers with appropriate prints.
2. Period underpinnings to include at the minimum, hoop or corded
petticoat.
3. Young girls must be dressed age appropriate with proper
underpinnings at all times.
No thin white bleached
or unbleached muslin or sheer fabric skirts may be worn
by young or little girls
under any circumstances.
4. Ladies head coverings when outdoors to include: Slat Bonnet, Corded Bonnet, Fashion
Bonnet, Straw Hat, Lace
Day Cap, fine ribbon hair net, or knitted hood.
No Yarn “snoods”.
5. Hair should be styled neatly in a period hair style.
6. No modern make up or nail polish. If you have tattoos, please kindly cover
them. Please
remove modern facial
piercings while in period dress, with the exception of earrings.
7. Period footwear and stockings are required to be worn. No sneakers,
open-toed shoes, sandals
or flip flops to be
worn while in period dress.
8. No Haversacks should be
carried by women
9. POSITIVELY NO SPECIALTY
OR WOMEN OF THE EVENING IMPRESSIONS.
GENTLEMEN’S DRESS AND ATTIRE
1. Appropriate men’s
clothing that is professional and age appropriate, i.e..: for Businessmen,
Laborers, farmers,
hired hands or storekeepers.
2. Appropriate Sack or
Frock Coats, Wool, and Linen with proper buttons.
3. Pattern Correct Vests,
such as shawl-collar style.
No Post War “Gambler’s
Vests” with reflective fabric will be allowed.
4. Trousers of appropriate style
and fabric, wool or linen.
5. Civilian men’s shirts,
drop sleeve, pullover or pleated front.
6. Period suspenders
only. No elastic suspenders with sheet
metal clips.
7. Period correct shoes
only.
8. Hair worn as close to period correct in
style, length, and part.
9. Period correct
headgear, Top Hat, Bowler, Pork
Pie, Slouch, Straw, or Mechanic Hat.
Positively no western style cowboy hats.
10. Little boys must NOT be dressed in U.S. Military Clothing.
